[VAN] A Vegetarian Bar – The Acorn

Thanks to my uncle, I was on a plant-based eating spree in Vancouver during my recent trip this summer! The Acorn, an award-winning, vegetarian bar located at the heart of Vancouver's Main St, was one of them. It is a destination for diners seeking creative meals made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The dishes are beautifully presented, and cater to vegans and gluten free diners while ensuring that even the staunchest meat eaters leave fully satisfied too.

[MTL] Nonna’s Bakery – Rosetta

There are more and more restaurants opened in the St-Henri neighborhood. On the bustling streets of Notre-Dame, right across my favorite Middle Eastern restaurant Sumac, lies Rosetta – a charming new Italian & French bakery and patisserie. Paying homage to Rosetta Sciortino Cammalleri, who is the mother and grandmother of owners, Maria and Rocco Cammalleri. Everything offered at the store is homemade where, many of the dishes are recipes that have been passed on through generations. Serving a vast assortment of sweet and savoury delights, at Rosetta, the secret ingredient is.... “family”!

[MTL] Middle-Eastern Brunch Affair – KazaMaza

In case that you didn't know, I love Middle-eastern food, especially the dips. The spices that are used and the aroma fascinated me. Growing up in countries that lack of Middle-eastern foods, I only had the opportunity to try it after I came to Montreal. I was hooked after the first exposure, and KazaMaza was the first Middle-eastern restaurant that I visited 4 years ago.

[MTL] Little Italy’s Essential – Pizzeria GEMA

Not only David McMillan, owner of Joe Beef, Liverpool House and Le Vin Papillon, has his own restaurants trio, so do Stefano Faita and Michele Forgione too, and Pizzeria GEMA is one of them. As the restaurant is only few blocks away from the Jean Talon Market, the ingredients of their appetizers and pizzas use local products that are available at the market. There are two words to describe their food, fresh and home. Oh! If you are too full for pizza, their homemade ice cream is worth a detour too.

It's time of the year where summer is over, and time for students to go back to school! Though school work load might not be as heavy as exam periods, but there are still a lot of events happening that keep students as busy as they would have during the exam periods. Foodora, one of the leading food delivery companies in Montreal, is partnering up with three of their restaurant partners to offer unique dishes that will be available exclusively on foodora. These dishes take a modern, elevated twist on childhood lunchtime classics, and are bound to make you feel nostalgic. The dishes will be available starting Tuesday, August 22 until Wednesday, September 20th. Now, let's see what are the 3 restaurants?

[MTL] Wine Enthusiast’s Heaven – Le Vin Papillon

Le Vin Papillon is one of the three brothers of Joe Beef and Liverpool House, locating right next to each other. To stand out from the other two, a different approach must be taken for sure. When a non-drinker dine at a wine bar, is the food still good without any pairings with wine? On verra (we'll see)...

[MTL] Italianate in Style – Le Serpent

Hidden in the former Darling Laundry, Le Serpent serves Italian-inspired contemporary cuisine. Situated at the border of Old Montreal and Griffintown, the restaurant doesn't have a flashy sign, a GPS is a necessity to get there. I was tempted to explore the menu for a while, but also attracted by the industrial design, and glad that I got to visit with my mother when she was in town!

[MTL] Ahunstic Gem – Le St-Urbain

Le St-Urbain has been on Eater list of essential Montreal restaurants for quite a long period of time. Located in Ahunstic, which is not-so convenient for people without a car, serving seasonal menus. I was near the neighborhood for a job interview, so I can't think of any better reasons to let go this chance!

I still remembered my first visit to Restaurant Candide vividly. It was a cold winter day in December, not so long after the restaurant opened. I had a good experience, but it took me almost around a year and a half to return. The food wasn't just all about consist, yet it was better.

[MTL] A Mediterranean Sunday – Ikanos

"Where to brunch?" is the question that's always on my mind as soon as hump day hits. Ikanos is located on Old Montreal's one of the busiest streets. The restaurant has its reputation out there for specializing in contemporary mediterranean cuisine. Recently, Ikanos is making its way to join the brunch game in the city by introducing a unique brunch experience remaining true to the Ikanos style, a Mediterranean style menu with a twist on classic brunch staples.
