[MTL] Slurp Slurp Slurp – Kinton Ramen

For all those days that I've been waiting for - an authentic, hearty ramen - has finally arrived in Montreal! Kinton Ramen, originated from Toronto (already have 5 locations!), is part of the Kinka Family, which decided to come to Montreal after the successful launch of Kinka Izakaya last year. I love ramen. However, none of the ramen spots could satisfy my cravings as there's always just something lacking in the bowl. Now, you'll know where to find me during the harsh winter in Montreal.

[MTL] “Ira-ssha-i-ma-se” – Kinka Izakaya

Kinka Izakaya, locating in Faubourg on St. Catherine Street, offers an authentic dining experience of popular Japanese eateries. The name "Kinka" means "Golden flower", which symbolizes "happiness" in Japanese; hence it's their mission to make every customers happy with both the food and impeccable services. "Izakaya" is equivalent to a bar, where people would go to enjoy exquisite food and drinks (typically with beer or sake) to unwind after a hard day of work. An izakaya offers relaxation, joy, and amazing food.

[MTL] Never Say No to Omakase – Saikō Bistrot Izakaya

I had my first omakase experience at Ten Masa, in Taipei, last year during Christmas break. Ever since a horrible Japanese food experience I had 3 years ago in Montreal, I never had Japanese food in Montreal again. It left with me an impression of expensive, poor quality, and lack of variety of fish. I always hold my cravings until I go back to Taiwan, where I can get authentic Japanese food without traveling to Japan. Saikō Bistrot Izakaya is a Japanese restaurant located on Côte du Beaver Hall, which Station Square Victoria is the closest metro station. I've walked passed a lot of time whenever I am heading to Old Montreal, but didn't look further into it. As I already had a big no to all the Japanese restaurants in Montreal, I was still doubtful when my friend suggested to visit this restaurant. I looked it up on Yelp, and it has a lot of good reviews, even from Japanese! Therefore, I decided to give it a try, especially when I found out they have omakase.

[HK] Nagi Butao Ramen (凪豚王)

Butao ramen is the #1 on my ramen list (better than Ippudo, which was my #1)! It is also a must-visit for me whenever I'm in Hong Kong since there's no decent ramen spot in Kaohsiung. There are only four types of ramen (all based on pork bone marrow broth), which are classic (豚王), spicy miso(赤王), squid ink(黑王), and pesto (翠王).
