[MTL] Hidden Gem on Blvd. St-Laurent – Bouillon Bilk

First time I heard about Bouillon Bilk is from my foodie buddy, K (see her post). Then, during the dinner at Maison Boulud with other fellow foodies, it was one of the restaurants that received positive feedbacks too. Therefore, I know it's a must-visit. Locating on St-Laurent (between DeMaisonneuve and Ontario), I thought it is quite easy to find. However, as I was walking down the still-defunct block of St.Laurent Blvd., where you see a lot of wholesale fell-off-the-back-of-a-truck electronics stores, empty/sketchy storefronts, dingy depanneurs and other questionable business ventures, it is really hard to walk pass without even noticing. But if you look closely, you'll spot a well-decorated restaurant in a minimalist, dim-lit space.

[HK] Reaching for the stars – Caprice (two Michelin-starred)

Hong Kong is definitely one of the cities with most diversity for its food scenes. From local street food vendors to Michelin-starred restaurants, and classic Hong Kong-styled eatery to prestigious western fine dining. Hong Kong is one of the places in Asia that allows you to "eat around the world" without traveling too far.

Maison Boulud is located adjacent to the Ritz-Carlton of Montreal. As one of the prestigious restaurants in Montreal, Maison Boulud offers traditional French cuisine with a twist, which you'll find "refined yet soulful" contemporary French food here.

[MTL] MTL à Table 2014 – Dîner au restaurant Chez la mère Michel

At first, Chez la mère Michel wasn't on my list for this year's MTL à table. However, my other foodie friend recommended to me, so I thought I'd give it a try. There aren't a lot of reviews about it online, and the ones I saw were all positive comments, hence it made me eager to try it because French cuisine is no doubt one of my favorite types of cuisine.

[MTL] Taste MTL 2013 – Chez L’Épicier

Chez L'Épicier was the last restaurant on our list for Taste MTL 2013. My first visit to the restaurant was for Ashley's birthday, and Ashley and I loved it! Since their regular menu is a bit pricy for students, therefore we decided to take the advantage of Taste MTL! [caption id="attachment_401" align="alignleft" width="705"]

Bar[/caption] The restaurant is located in Old Montreal. It has a classy ambiance like most of the French restaurants in Old Montreal. The restaurant is awarded for its notable sustainable practices, meaning that 75% of their products are local, seasonal, and sustainable fishing. Also, L'Épicier is more than a restaurant. It is also a fine grocery store where customers can find a wide array of "Les Saveurs de L'Épicier" products.

[MTL] Taste MTL 2013 – Au Cinquième Péché

After having lunch at Le Newtown, my friend Ashley and I continue on with our Taste MTL foodie trip for dinner at a small French bistro on the Saint-Denis Street around the Plateau Mont-Royal named Au Cinquième Péché. It was recommended by Ashley's friend, and since we were both free, we thought that we'd give it a try.

[MTL] Taste MTL 2013 – La Société Bistro

La Société Bistro is the new dining room in the Loews Hotel Vogue locating on de la Montagne. The original Société Bistro is located in Toronto owned by Charles Khabouth, whom is the owner of the biggest individual restaurant and nightclub in Toronto. The bistro is just opened in June 2013.

[MTL] Taste MTL 2013 – Plein Sud

The second edition of Taste MTL (as known as MTL à Table) started yesterday! It is a great opportunity to discover Montreal restaurants, many of which are upscale, at affordable price! The table d'hôte menus range from $19 to $39 before taxes and tip, and some restaurants offer late-night menus after 10 p.m. at $19. It runs from November 1st, 2013 to November 11th, 2013 with over 100 participating restaurants! I've decided to start off with restaurant Plein Sud, which is located in the Plateau Mont-Royal neighborhood.
