[MTL] Lunch in Wonderland – Ristorante Beatrice

Ristorante Beatrice, formerly known as Bice, is located in the Golden Square Miles where the museums are, as well as one of the areas populated with restaurants. It offers a variety of savoury Italian dishes that are prepared with seasonal fresh ingredients. During the summer and fall, they open up the garden-style dining space, which resembles a terrace, but better.

I recently went to Marconi, located in Mile Ex, for dinner with my friends on a Friday evening to get a head start of the weekend. However, the experience was like a roller coaster ride, but mainly just going straight down.

[MTL] Mexican Weekend – Taqueria Arturo

Mexican cuisine is not new in Montreal, but they are either in St-Henri, downtown or even further up in the plateau and mile end. Prince Arthur street is what I considered the grey area of plateau and downtown. The pedestrian street had been quite dead thanks to the constructions. Taqueria Arturo is brave to break to silence of the street and bring some Mexican food to the neighborhood!

An Afternoon with Michael Bonacini

In early December of 2016, one of Masterchef Canada's judges Michael Bonacini, who is a chef and restauranteur, was in Montreal for the filming of 24 Hours of Food with Michael Bonacini on Bell Fibe TV1. I love to introduce and share the food scenes here with friend. I also get excited when I see that others have the same thoughts as me, and give this city the culinary recognition that it deserves. I was lucky (and honored) to be invited to interview chef Bonacini at one of my favorite restaurants, Provisions 1268!

[MTL] Jewish Comfort Food – Arthurs Nosh Bar

The long wait in front of the Arthurs Nosh Bar in the neighborhood St-Henri is no longer a secret. Despite the old classic Jewish restaurants in Montreal, Arthurs immediately became the city's new favorite soon after its opening. Their menu not only features classic Jewish dishes such as sandwiches made with challah bread, and potato latkes, but also elevates simple Jewish-European dishes by modifying with their own unique twist. Unless you are there right when they open, otherwise, expect to wait!

[MTL] MTL à Table 2016 An Old Montreal Classic – Les 400 Coups

I've been to Les 400 Coups quite a few times for lunch, and they were very satisfying. It has been so hard to book a table at Les 400 Coups during MTL à Table every year. Luckily, I managed to get a table [back in October] as soon as they released the menu. Was it as good as my previous experiences? We shall see...

[MTL] MTL à Table 2016 A Casual Resto with Exquisite Dishes – La Récolte Espace Local

La Récolte Espace Local is situated in the Little Italy/Villeray neighborhood, close to station Jean Talon. I've walked passed by it quite a few times when it's closed, so never had an idea how the restaurant is like. Thankfully, my friends suggested this for MTL à Table. I'm already half way through the week of the event, and it's my third restaurant (two more to go!). This is by far the most satisfying dinner.

[MTL] MTL à Table 2016 A Portuguese Affair – Helena

Helena, is a Portuguese restaurant located in the Old Montreal, right on McGill street. I've already heard a lot about the restaurant before the visit (I even have Chef/owner Helena Loureiro's cookbook!), so I had a bit of expectations for it. As an avid seafood lover, my friends have been telling me how good their food are, and the fishes are very fresh. I'm glad that it's one of the participated restaurants for MTL à Table, which finally allowed me to have the chance to try it out, and it didn't disappoint.

[MTL] Quick Cuba Getaway – La Habanera

Cuba is a popular destination for vacation. Since I don't quite have the budget to travel just yet, La Habanera allowed me to have a taste of Cuban food. Locating right in the downtown of Montreal, it has soon become a hit spot. The restaurant offers Hawaiian-inspired shareable plates, as well as an extensive cocktail menu.

[MTL] Haitian Love – Agrikol

As a newbie for Haitian food, my verdict after a visit to Agrikol was I loved it! Agrikol is a fairly new restaurant and bar locating in the Gay Village area, which serves some Haitian food with interesting cocktails. It's also one of the few restaurants in Montreal that people start to line up outside before its opening time. If you've never had Haitian cuisine, I suggest that you do!
