New City, New Adventure

After 7 years in Montreal, it’s time for a new change. Honestly, I felt insecured and upset regarding this new change initially, however, as I digested the news, I have embraced the fact that I AM MOVING TO TORONTO!

I’ve always planned to either move to Toronto or Vancouver so I can be closer to home. However, I’ve never expected this day to come so soon! The 7 years in Montreal has gone by so quickly that I felt like I just arrived 2 or 3 years ago.

Though I always complain about the never-ending winter in Montreal, but I think the snow and the coldness are something that I will miss. I have arrived in this oh-so-french city with zero expectation nor did I know that it’s a French-speaking city (sorry for my ignorance back then…). I also didn’t expect that I would pick up a new language too. There were just too many unpredicted and first experiences in this enchanted city.

It’s the city where I started to learn more about coffee culture. Despite the dead, depressing ambiance during the winter in Montreal, the vibrant summer vibe makes every day like a holiday. I’ve been to few cafes in Toronto, but never had the intimate feel or the connections I had with the cafes in Montreal. This perception might change after I have lived there for a while? I hope so!

Honestly, this change is quite intimidating. I moved quite a lot during the childhood and teenage period, and considered myself quite adaptable to new environment, but I’ve never lived in such a big city like Toronto, which can be quite overwhelming. Nonetheless, I have to admit that things are getting a bit too comfortable in Montreal. It almost felt like a perfect retirement place, for my parents. Perhaps, it’s time to take the new challenge, step out of the comfort zone, and take the opportunity to work towards my career goal!

Lastly, I want to say that even though I don’t have any family members in Montreal nor Canada (haha!), but this city become my “home” in Canada, and it will always be! Now… off to the new chapter.
